Cobb County, GA – Dump Truck Driver Killed In Cobb County Crash

Cobb County, GA (April 12, 2023) – On Wednesday morning, a fatal collision involving a dump truck led to the closure of a bustling thoroughfare in Cobb County. The accident took place around 4:50 a.m. on the northbound side of Atlanta Road, just beyond Bolton Road.

Authorities report that a 2005 Mack 7000 dump truck, painted white, was heading north when its dump bed struck the support structure of a railroad bridge. This caused the truck to overturn and land on its side. Jason Maddox, the 44-year-old driver from Cartersville, was thrown from the vehicle and tragically lost his life in the incident.

Following the crash, FOX 5 confirmed with police that all lanes of Atlanta Road have been closed to allow crews to address the situation. The road is anticipated to remain closed for an extended period of time.

Truck Accidents In Georgia

Tractor-trailers are some of the largest vehicles on our roads in Georgia, which means that they are capable of causing the most extensive harm in an accident. In just one recent year’s time in the entire U.S., it was reported that around 119,000 people were seriously injured in truck accidents due to the reckless acts of others. Truck accidents happen in the blink of an eye due to many reasons, such as speeding drivers or drivers falling asleep behind the wheel. If you have been hurt in a truck accident that is not your fault, you should speak with an attorney that you can trust.

Truck accidents are incredibly complex claims to handle. This is due to the fact that many different types of laws are at play in truck accidents, more so than many other types of claims. There are many parties who could be at fault for a truck accident, such as the following:

  • Negligent trucking companies
  • Manufacturers of truck parts
